About the Industry

How has Covid-19 Affected Our Industry?

Luckily Real Estate is considered an "essential service" thus is not subject to many of the restrictions other industries have faced.  The home inspection business has continued to trend upward. In fact, our main office in Kansas City enjoyed a 50% growth in June & July over prior year!

Our Industry

A home inspection is a limited, non-invasive examination of the condition of a home, often in connection with the sale of the home. A home inspector is sometimes confused with a real estate appraiser. A home inspector determines the condition of the structure, whereas an appraiser determines the value of the property.

The first known home inspection company, Home Equity Loss Protection Services, was founded in the late 60s by Christopher Nolan and Mark Goodfriend in Wheaton, Illinois. DuPage County Deputy Sheriff George Wick was their first official home inspector. Nolan was an investor of distressed real estate, and realized a need to have skilled professionals inspect key areas of the home prior to its purchase in order to mitigate the risk of his investment.

$3 Billion Industry
5.8 million homes sold in 2019
Since then, the home inspection business has become a $3 billion industry,  with anticipated growth by 10% each year through 2024. Its estimated that 80% of all homes sold in the United States have a home inspection performed on it.

The good news is that the industry is not dominated by any one company. There is spectacular room for growth and success from new entries into the market.

And the future is brighter than ever!
As millennials age into their mid-to-late 30s, the demand will increase dramatically. With the revival of housing starts and the rising number of existing home sales, experts predict the home inspection industry will continue unabated for the foreseeable future.

48 Million potential new home buyers will enter the market over the next 10 years
80% of all homes sold have an inspection

Entrepreneur Magazine rates the home inspection industry as one of the best low-cost franchises in the United States. And ours is even lower than the rest, in some cases 30% lower on the franchise fee and 50% lower on the royalties.

Just because there's a robust market out there, it doesn't mean success. What spells success is choosing the right franchise model.

We think we have it. But don't take our word for it. Instead, compare us to the top 3 home inspection franchises in the US. All you have to do is take "The Competitor Challenge" Click this button...
